QUICK GIFT IDEA!

Got 10 Minutes...Let's make a Table Runner
Make this with any fabric, for any season, for any reason
(baby's room, kitchen, dining room, patio table)

Gather two coordinating fabrics.
Backing piece is 18" x WOF (42")
Top piece is 12" x WOF (42")

Lay them right sides together
and down each side using 1/4" seam allowance
You will make a tube

Turn right sides out and press
Make sure the outer edges are the same size

Now fold the piece in half lengthwise
The backing piece is on the underside.
The top piece in on the topside

Trim each end to even them up and sew a 1/2" seam on each end

Turn the corners out and press each end flat

Finish by sewing across each end with a decorative stitch,
or perhaps add some fun ric-rac

or big buttons

Want it kwilted?

Follow the directions above until the tube is made, then
Cut batting to fit the inside of the tube
TIP* use your left over strips of batting, trim to get even edges, butt the edges side by side
and zig zag them together, then cut to size.

Insert the batting, flatten it out carefully, then stitch across
one end to help eliminate any batting shifting.

Press, keep fabric (border) on each side of the center
the same size and pin it down to help keep the batting
from shifting while kwilting.

Kwilt as desired.   FMQ or use a
walking foot for some straight line kwilting.
(I attached the stitch line guide)

Trim up the ends once its all kwilted

Now finish the same way
Fold in half, sew 1/2" seam on both ends

Turn out the corners and finish!
I used buttons for this one.

  1. this looks like a challenge but I am sure not a 10 minute one, it is going on the list of things I must try but it will probably not be till 2015
